Differences between original and replicated vehicle

The replica motor vehicle will have a height, width, and length deviation of more than 10 percent from the original motor vehicle. The intended scale being approximately 85% of the original. However, the deviations of the replica vehicle’s height, width, and length were made to improve the vehicle dynamics and overall maneuverability and to increase safety by allowing for quicker driver response during emergency situations. It was felt that even at 90% scale, the limitations of the design of the original vehicle would make it too ponderous and unwieldy in modern traffic. For example, the wheelbase of a 2024 Cadillac Escalade is only 3” longer than the original Bentley Blower. The reduction in the replica vehicle’s overall length and width inherently increases the replica vehicle’s agility and reduces the overall footprint on the road.

By reducing the overall size of the vehicle and using modern materials such as carbon fiber for the cockpit tub, the weight has been reduced from around 3,858 lbs to around 1,300 lbs. This reduces the momentum and kinetic energy carried by the vehicle in any given situation by more than 66%. The reduction in weight due to this reduction in size considerably improves braking performance and puts less load on the tires and their contact patches.

In addition, by packaging the batteries underneath the vehicle between the chassis rails and careful use of lightweight materials, there is a significant lowering of the center of gravity and improvement in the vehicle dynamics to allow for quicker driver response during emergency situations.

Also, by reducing the replica vehicle’s overall length and width, the replica vehicle has a reduced turning radius, with a curb-to-curb turning radius of 39 feet, compared to the original motor vehicle’s curb-to-curb turning radius of 50 feet. Reducing the replica vehicle’s turning radius improves the overall maneuverability in urban areas, which improves safety for pedestrians and vehicle occupants.

The vehicle is produced with the permission and under license from the original manufacturer, Bentley Motors. Bentley Motors provided full scan data of the original motor vehicle including original and modernized drawings. This has enabled faithful recreation of original features and components, with the exception of modifications in line with those described above. The vehicle is inspected and signed off by Bentley Motors as an approved replica product.
